Tire pyrolysis time should not be judged only by the main reaction period. A complete production schedule may include tire preparation, loading, heating, oil-gas recovery, cooling, carbon black discharge and steel removal.
Batch tire pyrolysis plant usually follows a complete feeding, heating, cooling and discharge cycle of about 20–24 hours. Semi-continuous pyrolysis equipment shortens downtime through mechanical feeding and hot discharge. Fully continuous pyrolysis plants use continuous material flow, so residence time and long-run operating stability matter more than a single furnace cycle. The right option depends on tire supply, target capacity, labor, pretreatment, land and investment plan.
What Is the Typical Cycle Time for Batch Tire Pyrolysis?
Batch tire pyrolysis is suitable for whole tires, truck tires and mixed tire pieces because it has lower requirements for front-end shredding. Feeding usually takes about 1.5–3 hours, depending on tire size, loading method and whether a hydraulic feeder is used. After the reactor is sealed, the heating and cracking stage normally takes about 8–12 hours.
After oil-gas output decreases, the reactor needs cooling before carbon black and steel wire can be discharged safely. Cooling and discharge usually take another 5–8 hours. Therefore, one batch cycle is commonly about 20–24 hours. This type is flexible for mixed raw materials, but the daily turnover is limited by cooling and discharge time.
