Solar Panel Pyrolysis Disposal Solution for PV Waste Recycling Projects

As global photovoltaic capacity grows, more solar panels are reaching the replacement, rejection, damage-repair and end-of-life stages. A solar panel pyrolysis disposal solution becomes especially valuable when recycling projects handle double-glass modules, mixed PV waste or panels that mechanical separation cannot process efficiently.

Conventional methods can recover aluminum frames and part of the glass. However, EVA encapsulation, sealants and laminated layers often keep glass, silicon cells and metal conductors tightly bonded. Pyrolysis plant weakens these layers and prepares the remaining materials for cleaner downstream recovery.

Why Do Double-Glass PV Modules Need a Different Recycling Route?

Single-glass PV recycling often starts with frame and junction-box removal. The remaining panel then enters glass removal, shredding, crushing, grinding and physical separation.
This route can recover aluminum, glass, silicon powder, copper and plastic fractions step by step. Yushunxin offers the YSX-1000 single-glass solar panel recycling line, with a processing capacity of 1 t/h, and a required area of about 36 × 6 × 6 m.

Double-glass panels have glass layers on both sides and a tightly laminated internal structure. Mechanical removal alone may leave EVA, sealants and cell fragments attached to the glass.
Controlled pyrolysis decomposes these organic bonding materials. After thermal treatment, the glass, silicon cells and metal ribbons separate more easily during cooling, screening and air separation.
This approach also suits mixed projects that receive both single-glass and double-glass modules from solar farms, EPC contractors or regional collection networks.

Solar panels contain much less combustible material than waste tires or plastics. Therefore, fuel-oil production should not become the main investment argument.
The real value comes from recovering:

  • Glass pieces
  • Silicon cells
  • Copper ribbons
  • Silver-bearing fractions
  • Aluminum frames

Optional color sorting, vertical air separation and silver recovery can increase downstream material value. Buyers should evaluate the complete PV recycling route rather than focus only on the pyrolysis furnace.

Is Pyrolysis Suitable for Your PV Waste Project?

Feedstock Structure Defines the Process

The first step is to identify the incoming panels. A project may receive complete modules, broken panels, factory rejects or dismantled material. The ratio of single-glass to double-glass modules also affects equipment selection.

Panel size, daily volume, frame condition and contamination level influence feeding, pretreatment and reactor configuration.

Recovery Targets Shape the Final Configuration

Some projects only need basic glass, silicon and metal separation. Others want to add silicon-cell sorting or silver recovery.

Your recovery target determines whether the line needs frame-removal equipment, pretreatment, thermal delamination, air separation, color sorting or further chemical processing.

A low furnace price may look attractive, but it cannot represent the total project cost. The final system must match the material source, local labor, fuel conditions and recovered-product market.

Which Capacity Matches the PV Waste Supply?

Pyrolysis Lines Process Mixed PV Modules

Yushunxin provides two common pyrolysis configurations for mixed single-glass and double-glass waste:
· YSX-8000: 8 tons per day
· YSX-16000: 16 tons per day

An oversized plant can create idle time when local PV collection remains limited. Smaller systems may also create storage pressure when solar farms or recycling networks provide a stable high-volume supply.
Before choosing pyrolysis plant capacity, you should review yearly collection volume, seasonal fluctuations, working days and future supply contracts.

Yushunxin provides recycling equipment and plant configurations for environmental resource recovery projects, including solar panel recycling equipment, lithium battery recycling equipment and pyrolysis systems.
